Common Questions
Do I need a license to fish in Illinois?
Yes. Anyone 16 or older must have a valid Illinois fishing license to fish in public waters. Youth under 16 can fish without a license but may purchase a discounted youth license.
When does my license expire?
Illinois fishing and hunting licenses expire on March 31 of each year, regardless of when you purchase them. Plan accordingly if you're buying late in the season.
Can I fish the same day I buy my license?
Yes — your license is valid immediately. We process it through the Illinois DNR system on the spot, so you can head straight to the water.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash and major credit/debit cards in the shop.
Do I need a stamp in addition to my fishing license?
It depends on what you're fishing for. Trout and salmon require an additional stamp. Ask us in the shop and we'll make sure you're fully covered.
